The
MRJ 21 copper connectivity system solution is
a high-density, high performance, modular system.
This solution is designed to deliver multiple
Gigabit Ethernet ports and Gigabit Ethernet with
power ports in a high-density package. The twenty-four
pair cabling and connector solution supports any
plug and play environment including data centers,
zone cabled offices or open office environments.
This technology has been expanded from the original
printed circuit board design to a modular infrastructure
solution for network and telecommunications manufacturers’
implementation. When utilizing this printed circuit
board solution on a network switch or blade server,
the MRJ 21 connector enables much higher port
density than the common RJ45 interface, which
can reduce active port costs.
The MRJ 21 connectivity solution provides modular,
factory-terminated and tested components for simple
and rapid installation. The trunk cables are high
performance 24-pair cables with factory terminated
MRJ 21 connectors on each end, or with one end
broken out to six RJ45 connectors.
The MRJ 21 connector plugs into the back of high
density RJ45 panelmounted cassettes or into the
fixed-port, straight or angled 1u patch panels
or in equipment with the MRJ 21 connector interface.
Connecting network equipment using the MRJ 21
system is approximately six times faster than
connecting with standard 4-pair wiring. The modular
setup of eight pluggable MRJ 21 connections vs.
48 individual RJ45 terminations speeds system
uptime and reduces on-site labor.
The above model enables use of RJ45 based equipment
in a data center with the space efficiency of
the higher density MRJ 21 patch panels. Infrastructure
cabling occurs between the panels utilizing the
modular trunk cables. This enables rapid installation,
higher port density than traditional 24-port 1U
panels, and better cabling efficiencies.
This model utilizes the MRJ 21 platform as an
extension of the switch face, similar to traditional
RJ21 breakouts with the benefits of higher density
and improved cabling efficiencies. This model
also enables use of or migration to MRJ 21 based
equipment with the ability to breakout individual
ports to a desktop or to other horizontal applications,
including wireless access points and security
devices.
MRJ 21 assemblies are available in various lengths
from 0.5 to 100 meters in plenum and PVC constructions.
These cables are available in MRJ 21 to MRJ 21,
RJ21, or RJ45 modular plug configurations.
MRJ 21 cassettes accept one trunk cable for six
port and two cables for twelve port 4-pair configurations.
Straight 1U patch panels have up to 24 ports,
and 1U angled panels have up to 48 ports.
